I was out early this morning to get breakfast; too early as it traspired, as they had not yet cooked the croissant. A quick assessment of the ethereal quality of the light quickly dispelled any lethargy on my part and I went straight off to Primrose Hill to take some foggy photos.  I got home after an hour or so, leaving my camera by the front door, slumped into an armchair, and a Greater Spotted Woodpecker chose that moment to visit our bird feeding station about 10 feet from where I was sitting.  I get the feeling I should never put my camera down…
